The signal is not a dependency.
Airport underground levels, coastal roads, resort valleys, a foreign SIM that gave up in July. A driver app that needs connectivity to show today’s run is an app that fails exactly when the day is hardest, and the fallback is always the same — a printed sheet from last night and a phone call.
Meridian Driver holds the run locally. The driver can open the sheet, work the stops and confirm pickups with nothing behind the phone at all, and every tap queues until connectivity returns. Nobody has to think about it or remember to press sync; it is simply how the app behaves.
The stops arrive in the order the desk planned, worked out by drop-off sequencing — closest-first coming from the airport, furthest-first going back — with an estimated time per stop from the planned route.
Confirmations land on the live record.
What the driver taps is not a status update in a separate app. Picked up, no-show, completed — each one writes to the same record the dispatcher is watching, so the desk knows where the run actually is without ringing anybody. When forty guests are moving across three hotels, that is the difference between coordinating and chasing.
It runs in the other direction too. When the desk changes a run, the manifest reissues itself and the run sheet on the phone updates with it, so the driver is never the last person to find out that a vehicle was swapped or a hotel was added.
